Adventures of a homeless traveller...

Sunday was the best day EVER!

Once again, let’s go in order (and do people really think I write too much? I talked to my sister the other day who was complaining that I write “Egyptian papyri!”) But I don’t care cause I write my blog mostly for myself, I don’t care about others that much! And now also my friends’ parents read my blog, what’s up with that? Hello then! Welcome to my life;)

All last week I was frustrated with my traineeship cause I’ve done all of my work and I’m now just waiting for others to do theirs in order for me to start something else…but it’s my last week here and it’s stupid to start anything I wouldn’t finish. Anyways, on Friday I was excited about finishing the day early and get ready for the weekend, when my boss calls and tells me that there is a journalist interested in our company and wants to interview me! So he brings the journalist in my office, who asks me some questions (which my boss kept jumping into my words, interrupting me…so impolite and disrespectful!). But when he heard about AIESEC he got very excited! 75 foreigners working in Jaipur and nobody knows about that?!? So he started asking my favorite questions: what’s AIESEC? What does AIESEC do? AHAH, I couldn’t keep my mouth shut then and the interview slowly shifted from questions about the company to questions about AIESEC…my boss wasn’t too happy with me but I was sooooo excited!!! Then the journalist was supposed to come back to the office and take pictures of me but that never happened, so I don’t know if the article got published or not…but hopefully my boss will let me know! Oh, and the newspaper is a national newspaper, not even a local one! The bad/good thing is that it’s in Hindi. Bad cause even if I bring the article at home nobody will understand. Good cause most people in India read newspapers in Hindi so it will have a much further impact, and how cool is to be quoted on a Hindi newspaper?!?!

On Friday night, then, I left for Rishikesh, world capital for yoga. My housemates “grandpa” Hardy and “grandma” Jaana came with me…along with a stranger! I just sent out an email to all AIESEC trainees in Jaipur and a friend of a friend (Ivana from Croatia) ended up coming with us. The ride there was terrible! 12 hours on the first bus, I ended up trying to sleep on a sleeper seat, but it was the very last one of the bus and in some points there was no pavement on the road, which made the back of the bus jump more than a rollercoaster, and I almost fell a billion times and woke up “flying” touching the sealing of the bus and grabbing some metal supports trying not to fall! Horrible night, but watching the sunrise from the bus window was worth any uncomfortable moment!

Got to Haridwar where we had to catch a second bus to Rishikesh…once in Rishikesh we wondered around the city which is very very pretty! It’s located on the Ganges, and I think it’s the only decent part of this holy river! Because of its holy meaning in the Hindu religion, people throw dead corpses in it because they think Ganges is the beginning and the end of life, so if a body ends in the Ganges that will stop the cycle of reincarnations…but luckily Rishikesh is where the Ganges gets out of Himalaya, so it’s still relatively clean and decent. And we were at the very bottom of Himalaya, which made the view around absolutely gorgeous! The main characteristics of Rishikesh are: it’s a holy city since many people come here to worship the Ganges, and it’s considered the center for yoga teaching. For the first reason there were many pilgrims in Rishikesh (weird pilgrims! wearing weird clothes, with painted body and faces etc…) but also many beautiful temples. Most of the city is not accessible by car or rickshaws, all the bridges are for pedestrians only, which makes the city much peaceful and less noisy than usual India! And there are also many ashrams (meditation centers) where gurus teach yoga. We decided to stay in one of those and attend some yoga classes. On Saturday afternoon Ivana and Jaana went to the first class while Hardy and I were sleeping like babies;) Our ashram was very nice and peaceful, we had a room with a balcony with a view on the Ganges…very beautiful! Saturday night was really quite, we just had dinner and wondered around the city a bit, where we found some places where people where playing bongos, singing music (probably doing drugs, I’m sure!) and most likely getting in a trance state. On Sunday morning Jaana and I did yoga…I liked it! Couldn’t do most of it, but it’s ok! The guru was very good, helped me with some exercises…maybe I’ll get into yoga later in my life, we’ll see! Jaana has been really excited, she has been going to yoga classes at 6 in the morning in Jaipur almost every day, bought books, asked people in Finland about yoga classes there…I’m happy we got to do yoga in the world capital for yoga teaching! During the day on Sunday we just wanted to wonder around the city and then take a bus in the afternoon, but at breakfast we met this German guy who was telling us about those waterfalls about 3 km from Rishikesh, and we decided to go find them! That was an adventure! We met some other guys who were looking for the same, we got lost in the forest, and we finally saw a little sign on a rock WF, which led us to the waterfalls. OH – MY – GOD! It was gorgeous!!! We were all so happy and excited, and couldn’t resist the temptation of jumping in! We took off our clothes and started playing with the water! Wow, it was so powerful! The water was very strong and the whole scenario was so pretty! Felt a wonderful energy, being completely in touch with nature…the nature around was so green, butterflies flying around…we were just screaming and laughing, it was beautiful! I felt real happiness, I had no other wish in the world, I was happy and satisfied. AND, those guys whom we had met and joined us under the waterfalls were incredibly HOT, but I don’t mean just regular hot, they were hot as they had just come out a sexy calendar! I don’t know how they all end up together, they were from all over the world, 6 or 7 of them, GORGEOUS guys! If I think about paradise, now I know what to imagine;) Being totally immersed in the nature, under a powerful waterfall, laughing and being happy…AND surrounded by beautiful boys! Of course many pictures were taken but nop, those won’t go on my public blog;)

But after this wonderful afternoon we had to go back homeL We were so sad, and the worse thing is that we were sooooo late! We had to catch a bus to Haridwar and still had to cross the bridge and half of the city to reach the bus station and there was no way we could have made it! Luckily we decided to take a taxi for an hour and a half that took us to Haridwar, where the bus left one minute after we got in. Yes, we were lucky, but as Hardy said “we made the best use of our day” (which sounds much cuter when it’s said by a German economist;)

Yes, best day EVER! Paradise was in front of my eyes, all around me, came from the waterfalls to my head, on my body…wow! I will never forget such a day!

In these days my life as a homeless traveler is getting much hectic before “settling” down in France for a while. We got back to Jaipur this morning at 6, I slept for about 2 hours, had to do laundry and in 4 days I have to leave Jaipur! Which means I already have to pack all of my stuff, plus the stuff I’ll bring to Goa. Ready for other 30 hours in a train, yeahy!!! Pack and unpack, laundry, pack and unpack, buses, trains, I wish this would never end! It’s extremely tiring, but all the experience I do, all the sunrises I have seen here in India, all the people I have met, are worth any hour of sleep and rest…and especially now, I have to make the best out of my last days here!
